Women, primarily women of color, make up the majority of minimum wage workers. We support a $15 minimum wage floor as an essential step to achieving pay equality. We also support measures to close the pay gap. A white woman working full-time is paid 79 cents for every dollar a man is paid. Black women are paid only 60 cents, and Hispanic women only 55 cents. On average, that is $11,000 lost per year. We support the Paycheck Fairness Act as a key step to promoting fair pay and stopping wage discrimination. We also support pay transparency to help achieve equal pay accountability and strengthen enforcement.
